WELCOME TO THE CENTER FOR ADVANCED IMAGING (CAI).

The Center for Advanced Imaging to Implement New PACS Imaging Technology

Roanoke, VA, May 27, 2008--The Center for Advanced Imaging is taking radiology to the next level by installing PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) by AMICAS. The new PACS system enables images such as x-rays and scans to be stored electronically and viewed on monitors, so that doctors and other healthcare professionals can access the information very quickly and compare it with previous images, if necessary, at the touch of a button. AMICAS PACS will expedite the high quality of care already delivered at The Center for Advanced Imaging.

“The installation of the new PACS system will improve both the quality and efficiency of the radiology services we provide to our patients,” Martin Hellkamp, CEO. “Our investment in this advanced imaging technology will dramatically decrease the time it takes physicians to receive an imaging report and see their patients’ x-rays.”

"The Center for Advanced Imaging continues to advance healthcare for our community. The addition of new, innovative technology such as PACS is just another example of The Center for Advanced Imaging going above and beyond to ensure the best patient care,” Luci MacCormack, Director of Physician Relations.

Through a secure Web site, PACS establishes image communication between the radiologist and the referring physician – at their office, home, or even another part of the hospital. This translates into less time for the patient to wait for the results of their tests, which means faster diagnosis and treatment. All of this takes access possibilities to a whole new level and significantly changes the traditionally limited view people had in the film-based radiology world.

"This is just another step in a series of technology advancements designed to allow us to provide better care at The Center for Advanced Imaging,"Luci MacCormack, Director of Physician Relations.

Another benefit of this digital technology is that the old “films” will no longer be used. No more processing times and no need for patients to carry large envelopes from physician to physician. Now patients are able to take their images with them in a more modern format, either CD or DVD, when needed.

"In addition to the recruitment of specialized physicians and highly trained staff, The Center for Advanced Imaging continues to focus on compassionate care with the latest advancements in medical technology," Martin Hellkamp, CEO.

The new PACS system should be completely installed by June 1st , 2008 and will mean less re-testing and ultimately lower radiation dosage for the patients at The Center for Advanced Imaging.

The Center for Advanced imaging improves x-Ray technology and Patient Care.
New Digital Radiographic X-Ray System Images More Area in Less Time and Eliminates Need for Film.

Roanoke, VA. , January 28, 2008 - The Center for Advanced Imaging today announced the installation of the T.RAD Plus digital radiographic (DR) X-ray system from Toshiba America Medical Systems. The T.RAD Plus features a state-of-the-art flat panel digital detector that eliminates the need for film and provides detailed radiographic images using the industry's fastest image preview capabilities for greater exam efficiency and patient care.

The new system also features a 17x17-inch field-of-view for the largest anatomical coverage, providing The Center for Advanced Imaging clinicians with high-quality images that capture more information for greater diagnostic confidence. Additionally, by eliminating film and offering faster cycle times, the system enables The Center for Advanced Imaging to treat patients more efficiently with accurate exams.

"We are pleased to offer the advantages of the Toshiba T.RAD Plus digital radiographic X-ray system to the patients of our community," said Luci MacCormack, Director of Physician Relations for - The Center for Advanced Imaging. "The new system will enable our radiology staff to deliver optimal patient care using high-quality images. Moreover, we are now equipped to offer more convenient and faster exams to our patients without the use of films, and with almost no processing time."

Designed to meet the need of - The Center for Advanced Imaging, the T.RAD Plus offers instantaneous image preview, and a wide dynamic range for greater visualization and image quality - more than seven million pixel image resolution. In addition, the T.RAD Plus streamlines workflow to minimize the number of steps involved in scanning patients. The exam is as simple as entering the patient data into the Operation/Preview panel, selecting the exposure conditions to match the targeted anatomical area, and after the X-ray exposure, a preview image is obtained on-screen in about three seconds. If the patient positioning is acceptable, final image processing is performed, and the image is ready for network distribution and printing. The improved workflow and faster cycle times of the T.RAD plus not only increases staff productivity to handle more patients, but also enhances patient care with less exam time and retakes.

The Center for Advanced Imaging provides a full range of comprehensive health care services to the Roanoke community.
